Mario Lemieux Foundation – Leadership Changes

Nancy Angus Named President of the Mario Lemieux Foundation

The Mario Lemieux Foundation is proud to announce that for the first time in the organization’s 30-year history, it has appointed a President to lead the way forward. Nancy Angus, who has served the Foundation since 1998 and has been Executive Director since 2002, will take on new responsibilities in the newly created role of President. Additionally, Andrew Parish, the team’s current Marketing Director, will assume the role of Executive Director.

“I am humbled to be named President of the Mario Lemieux Foundation,” said Angus. “Over the years, I have seen the incredible impact our work has had on cancer patients and their families, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to be a part of it.”

Angus is a seasoned leader, bringing more than 27 years of experience to the role, having previously held leadership positions with the Ohio House of Representatives, Central Park Conservancy and UST, Inc. Angus is also a proud graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, as well as Leadership Pittsburgh XXVIII.  She was awarded a Women of Influence Award in 2021.

In her new role, Angus will work side-by-side with board members to set and execute the organization’s strategic direction while providing hands-on leadership to help staff achieve short- and long-term goals. Thomas Grealish will continue on in his role as President of the Board of Directors, and Mario Lemieux will remain Chairman of the Board, offering strategic oversight and guidance to advance the Foundation’s mission.

“We have complete confidence in Nancy’s leadership,” said Mario Lemieux, “She’s been a key part of this team for over two decades and her relentless passion and unwavering commitment have been instrumental to our success. We look forward to seeing her continue to make an impact.”

“Over the past 25 years, Nancy’s leadership has helped our Foundation become one of the preeminent cancer research supporters, not just regionally, but nationally,” said Thomas Grealish. “I have no doubt that we’ll continue to make even more significant strides in the years to come.”

As part of this strategic leadership change, Andrew Parish will assume the role of Executive Director. Parish has been an integral member of the Foundation team since 2000, when he first joined as Operations Manager for the Mario Lemieux Celebrity Invitational. In his current position as Marketing Director, he has managed the Foundation’s branding initiatives and fundraising events, helping to raise over $36M for cancer research and patient care. A graduate of Duquesne University and Leadership Pittsburgh XXXVI, Parish’s leadership and strategic vision will be essential in advancing the Foundation’s mission to conquer cancer.

“We are incredibly proud of our team and excited to see where the new lineup takes us,” added Grealish, “Please join us in congratulating Nancy on this well-deserved promotion and wishing Drew all the best in his new role. Together, we will continue to make a positive impact in the lives of cancer patients and their families.”
