Pittsburgh Penguins Virtual 6.6K Raises Over $200,000

Registration has concluded for the Pittsburgh Penguins Virtual 6.6K Presented by Highmark.

Over 4,500 participants from 18 different countries joined this year’s virtual event  to raise over $200,000 for cancer research and patient care initiatives of the Mario Lemieux Foundation, as well as the youth initiatives of the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation.

Participants received a short-sleeve tech shirt, finishing medal, printable custom bib and special promotions from 6.6K sponsors.

Participants could also choose to become a fundraiser and receive unique Penguins prizes while raising additional funds for the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and Mario Lemieux Foundation. All participants were automatically entered in the Pittsburgh Penguins Virtual 6.6K Raffle presented by Clearview Federal Credit Union for a chance to win for Penguins prizes and signed memorabilia.

New this year, the event will featured a Bench to 6.6K Program brought to you by Highmark Health.  Each week throughout the race period, a training schedule was posted to help participants work their way up to running a full 6.6K!

The Mario Lemieux Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 organization that raises funds for cancer research and patient care, as well as Austin’s Playrooms, an initiative that creates playrooms for children and families in medical facilities.  mlf.docker.localhost
