UPMC Hillman Cancer Center celebrated the dedication of the Mario Lemieux Immunotherapy Center and the Pietrandrea Clinic, marking a major milestone in cancer care and research. Supported by a $5 million gift from the Mario Lemieux Foundation, first pledged as the Foundation’s 25th Anniversary Gift in 2018, and a $2 million gift from Chris and Bob Pietrandrea, the newly renovated second floor at Hillman is now home to two state-of-the-art spaces focused on innovation, comfort and compassionate care.
“It’s a proud day for us,” said Thomas Grealish, President of the Lemieux Foundation Board of Directors. “This new space enhances patient flow, expands groundbreaking immunotherapy treatments and ensures every patient receives the most effective, high-quality care possible. We’re so proud to once again provide support to others in need and offer hope for a brighter tomorrow.”
Built through the expertise of Mascaro Construction and RM Creative, the newly renovated Lemieux Immunotherapy Center is designed to advance lifesaving research and treatment for patients with solid tumors, while the Pietrandrea Clinic offers a warm, patient-centered environment for oncology care.
This expansion reflects the Lemieux Foundation’s ongoing commitment to cancer research and patient outcomes, right here in Pittsburgh, with two world-class Lemieux Centers now transforming lives at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
